Crunch Time!!

Today on my lunch break at work i was surfing the net and found the flyer for Froze Toze road race. Looking at the calender i did some quick, complicated, basic math and realized that it was only 4 weeks away. Right then i realized i better start getting ready and made a self commitment to riding the trainer when i got home. I got all mounted up and spinning at about 6:45. I thought hey, i better hit this hard because i only have 4 weeks to get ready. After a quick warm up I pushed it up into a big gear and started motoring away. About 15 minuets later i could feel the 150 beers, and probably 20 energy drinks that i have consumed since x-mas trying to push through my veins and out my pours in he form of sweat. I have been doing longer rides, but nothing of this intensity. My heart felt like it belonged to a mouse and the legs of a over weight house wife trying to run the final event of American gladiator. I pushed on for about 45 minuets total and was really cussing myself for having that last drink..... every night. Time to turn it around......

Winter Riding

I have started getting ready for the 2008 race season by doing longer rides. My only real goal on my rides is to keep a moderate tempo for at least 2 hours. This was something i did not do last winter and i think this will help a lot. Ive ridden 4 times in the past 8 days and have a little over 10 hours of riding. I am also guilty of riding the trainer in my basement. It has been very cold riding lately with the lowest temp being about 11. That's too cold for the road so i have been single speeding it and CX riding. I like to keep the speed down when its cold because of the wind chill you get while riding. I stared today with going to SIUE with my new dog to see how he would handle mountian biking. He made it about 100 yard and then flipped out about something. He turned around and ran at full speed back up the trail were i found him sitting by my car. He slept on the car ride home. After i got home i figured i should take advantage of the warm 38 degree day and get some riding in anyway. I broke out my cyclocross bike and went for a ride.

Stay tuned until next time.......
