The last few weeks.

Haven't been racing much the past few weeks, or riding even. Not because I didn't want to race, but because I had other things going on. Been getting about 4-6 hours a week which is nothing.

A few weeks ago I skipped racing for the weekend to do a big ride to Downtown Stl for the Susan G Koman race for the cure and I was wearing my FUCANCER kit. That was my first 5 hour day in some time and had me feeling pretty tired to race on Sunday. Not even sure what I missed at this point. I think it was the St. Gen RR.

The next weekend, I think, was one of my friends(old man Sam) 70th birthday party. He had been planning this party for 3 years. His goal, ride 70 miles for his 70th... then get drunk. I was game and mission accomplished in all aspects. This was hellbender weekend.

Next on the agenda was a trip to Florida with Leslie. We went to Punta Gorda and visited many beaches. It was a damn good time until the sun had taken its toll on my virgin white chest, back, and ankle skin. Sun block was used, but the sun was snapping wrists like Seagal in his hey day.

After not riding a bike for 7 days straight, and only about 3 hours the week before that... I figured the rest period was over and ramping up for cross was next. I went to the Tuesday crits tonight only expecting to sit in. Problem was, I only ate a salad for lunch and nothing else. The sugar free energy drink mid day didn't help matters. I felt super empty and my HR was much higher than normal. If you want to feel like shit, do this. I sat in until my rear tire lost enough air that it was rolling in the fast downhill corner(tubular - slow leak). Stopped for one lap to air up and jumped back in to finish. Sat in until one to go and pulled the plug. Felt terrible. I have zero fitness right now but am psyched to get the cross workouts going now that I am going again. And with the dirt crits starting in a couple days I am certainly a couple weeks behind. Not worried though. My plan was to take it easy early in the summer and ramp up. Hopefully this years CX season goes much better for me. The Dirt crits should help gets the legs going again. And those start now.
